Mike Eastman

Mike Eastman is a Perth based Composer / Arranger / Producer who has written and produced a number of works for Television, Radio and Music Theatre, as well as numerous backings for live performances and recordings. His original works have been performed by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra at the Festival of Perth fireworks ceremony and the 2000 Hong Kong Festival.

He lectures in Song-writing, Music Production, Music Technology and Ensemble skills at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), where he is the Course Coordinator for Contemporary Music and Creative Music Technology Degree programmes. He has also lectured in Music Technology at the University of Western Australia.

Mike has a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Training and a Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment. He is a member of the Western Australian Department of Culture and the Arts’ Peer Assessment Panel, The W.A. Music Curriculum Advisory Group (CAG) and the Curriculum Council VET industry specific advisory group for secondary education.

His music production business - Eastman Music - specialises in recording & production services, arranging & composing, backings, industry & career support, advice and training across many areas of music.

In 1991, Mike teamed up with Hal Davies to write a Musical Farce - All Above Board. The show premiered in Perth 1992 and won the 1992 Finley Award for Best New Musical. Simon Gallaher and Julie Anthony have recorded two of the songs from the show, and a version of the show's ballad "One Last Time" was arranged and recorded in London by David Cullen, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical arranger. All Above Board was workshopped in 2008 by the National Youth Music Theatre in London.
